Day 8

 On this day I was feeling kind of sick so I feel I could’ve donde better in both classes. I did my interventions on the global skill activity part of the class. I thought a lot about it because I wanted to do something fun and meaningful. With the kids I did an activity on being good citizens, and with the preteens I prepared something on the intercultural aspect. I did these as they were connected to the topics in class and because my team teacher hadn’t done those. I think the intercultural awareness is very important, i’d like students to reflect on culture and diversity more in the classroom, this so they can have it in my mind while learning the language.

    I hope you’re feeling better. I’m glad to hear that you were able to bring something different into your classes connected to the learning component you wanted to introduce. Those aspects are definitely important because students need to understand the relevance of these skills when applied to real-life situations.
    Would you mind telling me more about your students’ reactions? How did they respond? Do you feel the activity was meaningful for them? Did they recognize the impact of this global skill in their own lives? Also, I’d love to know how you raised their awareness of this aspect.
    I’ll be happy to read more about your reflection.

      The students seemed to enjoy the activity as it was something related to various greetings around the world, something different from the usual class routine. I wouldn't be able to tell if it was truly meaningful for everybody (also due to the fact that I didn't have enough time to do it as they had to present their project) but they definitely learned something new and even laugh here and there.

Second entry

On my second Saturday, both classes had new students who hadn't attended the first session. In the A1 kids' class, the teacher welcomed them warmly, asked for their names, and integrated them quickly into the group. She began by checking homework and then introduced the topic of animals. Most students were participative, though some had trouble understanding instructions and expressed their doubts. I took the initiative to stand up and help clarify some of their questions. At the end of the lesson, there was a parents’ meeting to explain the semester’s dynamics. In the A2 teens' class, the dynamic was similar with the arrival of new students. The topic was items of clothing, and the teacher led a variety of activities, including some games. I also helped answer students’ questions during the lesson. This class also ended with a parents’ meeting.

Day 10

This day was very challenging. I had a very tough week overall, and I couldn't organise myself how I would've liked to, so teacher Nidia helped me out a lot with these classes. I find the language cycle quite difficult to plan, I have a hard time thinking of activities for the different stages, so that got me really overwhelmed and stressed out. While in the class with the kids, I feel like I could've done a lot better in the delivery of the lesson, but it was fine. With the preteens I felt more confident so I think it went well. After the class ended, I had various discussions with my team teacher Nidia about how to improve in preparing, planning, delivering, etc, the classes so it is easier for me and I don't feel as saturated as I felt. In other news, I feel like the kids are very smart and they sucessfully do all exercises from, for example, the langauge cycle part. Third entry

This Saturday, the first class with the kids focused on prepositions of place. The teacher used a ball and a box to demonstrate the prepositions in a fun, visual way, which really captured the students' attention. They then worked with the book, which included activities and a song that kept them engaged. The class ended with short conversations using the prepositions and animal vocabulary. In the teens' class, the topic was clothing and school uniforms. The teacher organized a group activity using bags with slips of paper containing clothing items, and students had to write sentences about what they were wearing. Afterward, they discussed questions about school uniforms, which I found interesting as it gave insight into their opinions. The class wrapped up with a short writing activity using the present progressive, though there wasn’t enough time to complete it fully.
